I really like the Apple TV, another spectacular gadget from the same guys that brought you the iPhone. The Apple TV hooks directly to an existing television in your home, and uses your internet connection to devlier programming. Let’s take a more in-depth look at how it works.

Movie Rentals

The included remote can be used to browse movies by rental category similar to what you’re used to if you already use NetFlix. You can browse by top movies, genres, or HD only. If that’s not enough, you can search for what you want to see. Apple TV will display a movie poster, or “VHS Box” for each movie, so it simulates the old-school days of browsing the VHS tapes. As you rent movies, Apple TV will build a database of others you might like to watch.

It costs from $2.99-$4.99 to rent movies, and you have 30 days to hit the “play” button. Once you start playing the movie, you have 24 hours to finish it. You can watch it as much as you want during this time as well. Once the movie expires, it will automatically delete so it doesn’t take up storage space.

Television Shows

It’s not just about movies. You can also watch your favorite TV shows for $1.99 each. These shows are commercial-free. These TV shows are also able to be transferred to your iPhone or PC via iTunes.
