FREE 2019 Calendar from South Carolina African American History

The South Carolina African American History Calendar and its online home are brought to you by The South Carolina Department of Education and its partners. The calendar helps provide educators, parents, and visitors a method of identifying African American role models for all youth and honoring notable African American achievers with ties to South Carolina.

Introducing the 2019 Calendar
This year’s calendar features artist Johnathan Green’s “Breath of Freedom” on the cover. The painting is a depiction of the crowd outside the Charleston Federal Courthouse during the Briggs v. Elliott trial, during which Judge Julius Waring’s famous quote set the foundation for Brown v. Board of Education. Inside, 13 additional stories of inspiration and dedication paint their own pictures of perseverance, resolve and extraordinary achievements.
