How To Plan An Easter Egg Hunt
When we talk about the month of April, we cannot help but think of Easter Sunday. It is on this day that we celebrate new life and new beginnings. Amidst all the fun and festivities, Easter Sunday will never be complete without an Easter egg hunt.
If you ask your children right now what they want to do on Easter, you would probably get the same answer – Have an Easter Egg Hunt! The tradition of egg hunting was said to have started because the ancient people believed that the eggs symbolized life and resurrection. Up until the modern times, we have preserved this tradition as part of our Easter celebration.
Planning an Easter egg hunt can be very fun and challenging at the same time. You have to be creative all through out to ensure that your kids and their friends will have a great time. To help you out in the planning process, here are some tips and suggestions that you can use to make the Easter Egg Hunt a successful one.
Things You Will Need:
- Easter Decorations (Bunnies, Eggs, Carrots)
- Coloring Materials (i.e. crayons, coloring pens)
- Easter Baskets/Bags
- Candies, small toys, coins
- Easter Plastic Eggs
- Great Easter Prizes
- Colored or White Paper
The Process
The first thing that you should do is to decorate and brighten up your house. The best way to create the “party atmosphere” is by putting party ornaments all around the place. You can use balloons and Easter decorations (i.e. Easter eggs, rabbits).
Once you have finished decorating the house, move on with preparing the Easter eggs. To make the Easter eggs more appealing to the kids, you can load the eggs with children’s stuffs like candies, money (coins will do) and toys. You can likewise include a note saying “Golden Egg” on one of the Easter eggs to make it special from the rest.
The next phase is to think of creative ways where you can hide the eggs. Remember that the ages of the children may vary. To ensure fairness and that each child will find an egg, you can institute “color-coding”. Take the following example:
- Kids aging 2-4 years old will find the RED-colored eggs.
- Kids aging 4-6 years old will find the YELLOW-colored eggs.
- Kids aging 6-8 years old will find the BLUE-colored eggs. And so on and forth.
Aside from the color-coding, you should also remember to hide the eggs in the places respective of the children’s capability to reach or find them. Always set boundaries to ensure the safety of the children.
Once the children have arrived, give each of them paper bags. Before starting the egg hunt, have them decorate the paper bags to make it more personal for the kids.
You will not only save precious time decorating the bags, but most importantly, your kids will be able to express their creative side by letting them paint the Easter bags the way they want it to be.
Once all of the Easter eggs are found, give great prizes to the kids. You can award the child who found the most Easter eggs. And of course, give the best prize for the one who found the egg with the “Golden Egg” note in it. Make your prize really special like a bike or game console if you want.
After the egg hunt, you can have the children create designs with the Easter eggs that they have found.
The kids will surely be hungry after the egg hunt. Serve easy-to-eat foods such as sandwiches, cookies and healthy refreshments for the snack.
The above tips are only a few of a hundred ways in which you can spice up your Easter Egg Hunt. The best way to make a fun and successful egg hunt is for you to think like a child. Reminiscing your Easter egg hunt experiences as a child will surely make your creative juices flow. Have fun!
