1. Get Simple
Keep everything simple and your money will go much further. Not only will you save cash, but simple spaces are more in style anyway. Nobody likes clutter, and a cluttered home actually portrays clutter in your life. Clean out your space, and you may relieve stress.
2. Spice Up Your Walls
Some simple paint on otherwise white walls can do wonders for your space. Think outside of the box here, and get a bit out of your comfort zone. Think about contrast, and sparingly use shelves and artwork for decoration. Don’t over do it though. Remember, simplicity is best.
3. Buy Area Rugs
Area rugs add a dash of style to your space. Especially if you have hard-wood floors, an area rug is a must-have. Make sure to keep your area rug tied within the space that houses your seating and coffee tables. Buy just the right size – anything larger will take away from your space.
4. Lighting, Lighting, Lighting
Lighting is key and is unfortunately the most ignored aspect of a home makeover. Make sure you allow for lighting in your budget. The kitchen is the most important room to focus on lighting. If you’ve redone your home and it doesn’t “feel” right, chances are you’re not lighting correctly.
5. Indoor Plants
Indoor plants add a touch of style to a home makeover, and brings a little bit of nature into the home. Use them sparingly, however; you don’t want your space to resemble a botanical garden.
6. Windows
Don’t forget the windows. Treatments and blinds should be a part of your makeover budget. If using drapes, be sure to hang them actually wider than the window itself. This will create a ‘royal’ feel to your space and make it actually appear larger.
7. Cabinet and Door Hardware
Use some of that budget on replacing the hardware on your cabinets and doors. This is relatively inexpensive and can do wonders for old cabinetry and doors.

I would love for my nan to have a makeover. If anyone deserves it, She does. She has worked hard all her life and was a carer for my grandad for a few years before he died. Since his death she has plodded on as normal and is always rushing around doing things for other people. Its about time she had something done for her thats why she would be the ideal person for a free makeover. It would be lovely to see her face when i told her she has won a free makeover for her home, The smile on her face would be the best thing i could ever wish for. She truly deserves it
